Quentin William Hansen

Quentin William (Bill) Hansen, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Logan Regional Hospital on February 19, 2011. Bill was born June 23,1918 to Abraham and Agnes Hansen in College Ward, a birthday shared with his father and grand-daughter Alexandra. He was the eleventh of seventeen children, born into a hard working and loving family.

Bill attended school in Cache Valley and married Norma Olsen in the Logan LDS Temple on November 29, 1939. They are the parents of five children, Clair, Beverlee, Arlene, Hal, and Jed. Norma passed away on March 9, 2004.

Bill was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings. He was a dedicated home teacher and his families looked forward to his visits. Bill worked at Utah Poultry, The Amalgamated Sugar Company and Utah State University prior to his retirement. He also had a small farm and spent long hours there where he also taught his children the definition of hard work. He was a man of integrity, with a great sense of humor.

Bill’s greatest joy was his family, and in turn, they adored him. With Norma they developed many family traditions which has resulted in a close-knit, loving family. They proudly attended events where children and grandchildren were involved. One of his great joys in life was the tradition of fishing at Hebgen Lake in West Yellowstone with his family every Memorial Day.

Bill is survived by his children: Clair and Diane, Modesto, Calif.; Beverlee and Nate Robinson, Las Vegas,; Arlene and Gordon Churchill, Smithfield; Hal and Teresa, College Ward; and Jed and Kathy, River Heights; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren with two more arriving this year, and a sister Rhoda Duce of Lancaster Calif. He is preceded in death by his wife Norma, a grand-daughter and great-grandson.

The family would like to thank CNS Hospice Services, his friends at Pioneer Valley Lodge, his friends and the staff at Terrace Grove, the doctors and compassionate nursing staff at Logan Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the College/Young Ward Chapel, 2934 West 2200 South College Ward. A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Logan, and prior to services on Thursday from 10:30 – 11 :30 A.M. at the church.
