Arden Larsen Bodrero, 78, passed this life peacefully and returned to his Heavenly Father on the morning of March 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Wellsville, Utah.
He was the 7th of 11 children born to John & Kate Bodrero, on December 18, 1932, in Wellsville, Utah.
A graduate of South Cache High in 1952, he was active in FFA and excelled on the high school football team. It was after high school while delivering freight to Allen’s Market in Hyrum that he met his future wife Shirley May Mcbride.
They were married May 17, 1957 in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they had 7 children. In addition to a 20 plus year career at Thiokol, Arden, along with his wife and children, realized his dream of owning his own dairy farm. It was here that he taught his children the value of hard work, sacrifice and the blessings of working alongside family.
Arden was an active member of the LDS Church and lived in the Wellsville 1st Ward his entire life. He served in a variety of callings including Sunday School Counselor, Ward Clerk, and was a member of the High Priest Quorum. Along with his wife Shirley, they served as Ward Genealogists. They continued their zeal for genealogy work and spent countless hours researching their family lines and performing temple work for their ancestors. In addition to this service, Arden worked actively in the scouting program for 37 years.
He lived the ideals of scouting and worked hard to help those he served realize those same ideals. He received numerous scouting awards and received the Silver Beaver Award.
His spent his retirement years tending his grandchildren and working part time at USU, and of course, couldn’t stop farming. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and children: Teresa, Glenn (Sandra), Vicky Young, Susan Bodrero, Tracy, Angela (Shawn) Beecher, daughter-in-law Charity Bodrero, 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Leah (Charles) Wanczyk, Darrell (Theone) Bodrero, Louise (Lyell) Ludington, Elaine (Paul) Parker, Joyce (Delone) Hammer, Marlene (Douglas) Coombs, and Larry (Judy) Bodrero. He was preceded in death by his son Lyle Bodrero, parents John and Kate Bodrero, and brothers Glen and Jackie Bodrero.
Arden had a great desire to serve others and serve the Lord. He felt extremely blessed to overcome physical trials during his young adulthood, always striving to live up to the blessings the Lord had given him.
Special thanks to Intermountain Homecare/Hospice for their exceptional care, and to all those who assisted him in his final days.
