SHAWNEE, Okla. â€”
Tedeline â€œTedâ€ Throckmorton, 83, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, in Purcell. Family Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Wadleyâ€™s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Wadleyâ€™s Funeral Service.
Ted was born June 18, 1928, in Hennessey to Edwin and Pauline (Hughes) Morrell. She was raised and attended school in Hennessey. Ted married Carl (Slim) Throckmorton in Washington, Kansas. They owned and operated Slimâ€™s Truck Stop in Wanette and moved to Purcell after retiring in 1985. Slim passed in 1996 after 49 years of marriage. Ted attended Purcell Pentecosal Holiness Church. Ted was an avid OU, Texas Ranger and OKC Thunder Fan. She loved sports of all kinds, especially following her sonâ€™s baseball career, where she was his biggest fan. Ted also enjoyed tailgating, reading Christian books, playing dominos, quilting, sewing and spending time with her family.
Ted is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Slim and brother, Edwin Lee Morrell. Survivors include her children, Sandy Compton and husband, Bob, Gary Throckmorton and wife, Barbara, all of Lexington, Trish Weedn and husband, James, Vickie Roselius, all of Purcell, Jo Beth Throckmorton of Oklahoma City, Tracy Ward and husband, Rick of Woodstock, Georgia, Bruce Throckmorton and wife, Marla of Shawnee; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Purcell Pentecostal Holiness Building Fund, 224 W. Apache, Purcell, Oklahoma 73080.
